Hemorrhoid Herbal Treatments and Natural Remedies
We have already discussed what internal and external hemorrhoids are, however just to recap; external hemorrhoids are
swollen veins easily detected with a physical or visual examination of the anal area. Internal hemorrhoids are harder to detect and most
people only become aware of them once they observe bleeding, either blood in the stool or on the toilet paper, if this occurs please

Always follow the main guidelines to prevent hemorrhoids occurring, try to use the following information to the best of
your ability;
- Avoid constipation - high fibre diet and drink plenty of water
- Weight loss - loose weight if possible
- Avoid sitting on the toilet for long periods - don't read or play hand held computer games
- Avoid sitting at your work station for long periods - get up and walk around frequently
- Exercise helps blood flow and strengthens vein walls
- Marigold - a natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, this can be used as an ointment/cream to
relieve pain and swelling from hemorrhoids, but also as a tea to help the digestive system.
- Chickweed - rich in flavanoids this natural remedy helps sooth pain and reduce swelling and relieve
itchyness, applied externally as a cream.
- Vitamin E - used externally as a cream, reduces swelling and sooths skin.
- Horse Chestnut Extract - taken as a supplement it is a natural anti-inflammatory containing aescin
this helps strengthen vein walls also horse chestnut help relieve pain and swelling caused by hemorrhoids. You should
AVOID using horse chestnut if you suffer from kidney or liver ailments or if you are pregnant or breast
feeding.
- Japanese Pagoda Tree Extract - improves circulation and reduces swelling and relieves pain, applied
as a cream to hemorrhoids.
- Butchers Broom Extract - another anti-inflammatory, taken as a supplement this will help strengthen
the vein walls.
- Thermotherapy - take regular warm baths or sitz bath to relive pain and swelling.

bleeding hemorrhoids, both internal and external, also help with diarrhoea.
- Honey - is a natural healer with anti-bacterial properties, this can be applied to the effected area
as a dressing on a pad, this will speed up the healing process.
- Bilberry Bioflavonoid - taken as a supplement, protects and strengthens veins and their
function.
- Chamomile tea - used as an anti-inflammatory and antibiotic to sooth pain and reduce swelling.
Chamomile cream can also be used externally to relieve pain and swelling.
Your diet will have considerable effect on the passing of motions, the main thing is to have a fiber-rich diet that may
include plantain and Psyllium seed husks to help soften the stool.
