Pregnancy and Hemorrhoids
Pregnancy hemorrhoids are caused by the relentless pressure on
the veins in and around the rectum and uterus area. Hemorrhoids
during pregnancy are a common theme and an unfortunate problem
that may occur during the monthsof prgnancy and immediately
after child birth. As with all complaints of this kind, you may end
up with hemorrhoids eve if you've never had them before.
Hemorrhoids during pregnancy are common and are due to several
factors that are due to that fact of being pregnant, for instance,
the high level of progesterone during pregnancy softens the veins.
This is because the progesterone reduces the effectiveness of the
natural build up and strengthening of the wall process. The walls
relax and become softer, allowing for them to swell and in some
cases they may tear which causes them to bleed.
Constipation is another factor, the increased progesterone
(yes you've guessed it) causes constipation, this in turn makes it
difficult to pass a bowel movement and the additional straining puts
extra pressure on those weak veins, causing them to swell and
become hemorrhoids. Constipation is already a leading factor in the
cause of hemorrhoids, so being prgnant with increased
progesterone only makes things worse. An effective preventative
method for constipation is a good and varied diet, drink plenty of
water and eat high fibre cereal, green leafy vegetables and take
some exercise. All this can help prevent hemorrhoids.
If you are unfortunate to be suffering from hemorrhoids then take
a sitz bath or simply a warm bath that will help relieve some of the
discomfort and relax you. Consult with your Doctor bfore going
ahead with some of the remedies and creams on the market.
Some herbal remedies should be avoided when pregnant and some
of the creams have steroids in, so please consult before you start
using them.
